Today's Report Includes:

A Special Congratulations from Journey North
Give yourself a double high five! You all started 11 weeks ago knowing almost nothing about the mystery locations. Then, you graphed sunrise and sunset data, figured out approximate longitude, and finally determined a real location somewhere in the world. No matter how many locations you answered correctly, you ALL did a fantastic job!

Congratulations from everyone at Journey North to all of you who participated in the Mystery Class learning Activity this year!

How Contest Entries Were Ranked
We ranked the contest entries by grade level, so our first step was to separate the entries according to their grade levels. If the entry came from a mixed-grade classroom, we ranked the class according to the highest grade in the class.

After that, we carefully reviewed each entry to see how many correct answers there were with both the correct CITY/TOWN/VILLAGE and the correct COUNTRY.

Special Notes:
  • For MC #3, we accepted only the City of Espoo, Finland as correct, because it is a distinct city from Helsinki and the clues focused on Espoo

  • For MC #7, we accepted the spellings of Dubai or Dubuyy

  • For MC #8, Balikpapan, Indonesia, we also accepted Balikpapan, Borneo

  • For MC #10, we accepted answers identifying this North Pole research/tourism outpost as Camp Borneo, Ice Station Borneo, Borneo Observatory or North Pole Environmental Observatory at Borneo.
