Monarch Butterfly Migration Update: June 4, 2004

Today's Report Includes:

News from the Migration Trail

The leading edge of the migration has now surpassed latitude 47 N in northern Minnesota, and monarchs have spread up the East Coast into Maine. Today's 47 new sightings are a clear indication that monarchs are now much more abundant, with the 1st--and probably 2nd--spring generations on the wing.

How far north do you think the monarchs will travel? Where do you think they will stop and why?

The Monarch Migration Continues...
We will continue to track the monarch migration through June, when the migration has spread throughout the breeding range. Hereafter, weekly updates will include migration maps and data only.

We Need Your Help: Please Report Your Sightings!
