Monarch Larvae This monarch larvae is probably the 3rd generation. Imagine its great-grandparents came from the overwintering grounds in the mountains of Mexico in the spring. When this larvae turns into an adult butterfly its eggs will become the monarchs that migrate to Mexico this fall.
