Ice-Out Winter is offically over in the north when lakes become ice-free. Local people often hold a contest to guess the ice-out date in eager anticipation. For wildlife, a rich aquatic habitat becomes available. Migratory species arrive and those that spent the winter nearby appear on the scene. |
