About the same time mosquito adults are hatching you'll often see the first dragonflies arrive. Dragonflies are predators that eat mosquitoes and other small insects. Dragonflies have large multi-faceted, compound eyes and strong transparent wings. They are amazing fliers, too. In flight the adult dragonfly can propel itself in six directions; upward, downward, forward, back, and side to side.
