Solstice Sunrise
Sometime between 3000 and 2000 BC a ring of standing stones were set into the earth in england. The sight now called Stonehenge was constructed over the course of at least 1,500 years. Stonehenge has a history of association with rituals and in the present day many people travel there to celebrate the sunrise on the northern winter solstice. Stonehenge is aligned exactly to the sun marking the southernmost sunrise and the year turning from decreasing to increasing daylight. |
