Ruby-throats Arriving
One of the most exciting signs of spring each year is the arrival of the first ruby-throated hummingbirds. The first of the tiny birds start their migration from wintering grounds in Mexico and Central America the last part of February. When they arrive in the U.S., after a journey across the Gulf of Mexico, they fuel up at flowers and feeders and continue north as the weather and food resources allow.

"Saw our first Ruby hummer today. Looked very healthy. He's been at the feeder for the better part of the day since this morning." 02/28/15 Houma, Louisiana
