Changing Winds: Take-off Tomorrow? +0 Miles At Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge, the team is still waiting for headwinds to calm. Tonight the winds are expected to shift around and start blowing from the north. The team has all fingers crossed that the shift will be a nice easy tail wind. That means not too strong or choppy. Their progress remains at 692.1 statute miles. What is the rest of the Eastern (reintroduced) flock up to? The last whooping cranes remaining in Wisconsin began migration on Nov. 24. By the end of last week, all 11 yearlings were in Florida, 3 DAR juveniles were in Tennessee and 1 DAR juvenile was in Kentucky. The rest of the adult whooping cranes were spread out along the migration route. Their life story pages have the details as soon as we hear them. See the Whoopers and Ultralights!
