Not Again?
A beautiful, clear morning in Sauk County with calm conditions on the ground SHOULD have meant a GO. With everyone hopeful, Joe took off to check out the conditions 'upstairs.' But hopes were dashed when he radioed down to the crew, "It's a no go; I'm getting my butt kicked around up here." Today is the fifth day grounded at Stopover #3 in Sauk County, WI. Ouch.

In the Classroom

  • Today's Journal Questions: What makes the cranes' travel pen predator-proof (see photo above)? What might be some predators in Wisconsin? What predators might be at their winter home in Florida? List them in your journal. Then edit your answers after hearing ranger Jennifer talk about predators and pens in this audio clip.
  • Migration History: In the past five migrations, they've always reached Green County, WI by October 20. What reputation does Green County have with the migration team? Find out here.
