November 8, 2006: Migration Day 35

In Boone County, Indiana, the team waited a few hours at the ready, hoping for the fog to clear enough to fly. It didn't happen. They finally had to call it a down day. The fog cleared up, but the winds turned.

In the Classroom

  • Today's Journal Question: Meanwhile, 13 Whooping cranes in the new flock have begun migration. They include cranes #502, 503 and 507 — who arrived at the Florida winter home Nov. 6!. How long did it take hese three to make their first unassisted journey south? Why can the wild cranes travel so much faster than the cranes and planes?

Journey North is pleased to feature this educational adventure presented in cooperation with the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP).
