Wings!
By mid July, crane chick #2's wings were nearly ready for flight. She and chick #1 are able to skip a few steps and rise off the ground as they race down the grassy runway behind the aircraft. Their wings catch the air off the plane's wings in this early flight called ground-effect flight.
