Charlie
Shafer is the new OM intern for the migration. He has a degree
in biology and will work on the group crew, setting up the pen
each day and driving one of the vehicles. |

the lead pilots in 2002 and 2003. One son: Devin.

Sprague, crane handler/Biotechnician at USGS
Patuxent Wildlife Research Center. Dan is with the
chicks from hatching throughout their training and migration south.
Dan and his wife have several pets, but no children yet.

Pioneer

historic ultralight-led migration: Deke Clark
and Joe Duff were lead pilots and Dan Sprague was lead trainer.
Deke is now recovering from a stroke suffered in January 2002.
