The trainers have carefully monitored the progress of each of the three groups of chicks. They must figure out the best time in the chicks' development to introduce the groups to one another. The goal for migration is to eventually combine these groups so they will follow the trikes to Florida as a unified group.

Until today, the youngest were still running down the grass strip with flightless wings: half feathers and half fluff, flapping in anticipation. Today they lifted off! All birds are now airborne as the training reaches another milestone.
