October 19, 2002 Ditto for Today
The migration is still 44.6 miles and holding in Sauk County, Wisconsin. (Mark your chart with a tally mark for another no-fly day.) This will be the fourth night in Sauk County, where the hosts on the landing site have been wonderful but the weather has not! Winds are out of the WNW at 10-15 mph and today's temp is 37 degrees F. Brrr! It's overcast, rainy and colder than usual for this time of year. Meanwhile, a reader tipped us off to a good television show coming this week. "RETURN OF THE WHOOPING CRANES" will be featured on the Canadian Broadcasting System's "The Nature of Things." The episode on Thursday, October 24th tells about the migration of whooping cranes from Wisconsin to Florida and shows the cranes and ultralights. It airs at 9 p.m. Eastern time in the Toronto area. The program repeats on Sunday, October 27th at 3 p.m. Border states like New York can pick up the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation television signal. The program is on cable networks as well. Check it out and mark your calendar!
