Day 8

Still Grounded at Stop #3

The team is standing down at Green Couny Wisconsin for the second day. They report thick fog, lightning, and south/southeast winds too strong for ultralights and young cranes to fly. Another front is expected later today, possibly lasting into tomorrow morning.

Try This! Journaling Questions

  • What has been the greatest influence on the migration's progress so far? Why?
  • Imagine yourself in the place of the pilots, ground crew, and whooping cranes. What effect, if any, do you think the delay might be having on them?
