Day 12

Standing Down in LaSalle County, IL

Today was sunny, but a no-fly day because of unfavorable winds. A test flight proved a ground speed of only 10 mph because of headwinds from the southwest. The birds would have to work very hard to make any progress in these winds. The test flight served another purpose: a chance to try bird #4 with the ultralight. Chances appear good that this bird will join the others to fly again, instead of making the migration in a truck because of his wayward behavior.

Try This! Journaling Question
  • Compare the migration's progress to something in your own life. When did you set out with a known goal, but meet with many "detours" along the way? Did you think of other strategies to help achieve your goal? Describe how you met the challenge, and how you felt.
