Today's winds are still out of the south--coming from the same direction the cranes want to travel. How many days has the migration been held up by weather? If you've been counting, you know it's 16. In comparison, last year's 40-day ultralight migration with sandhill cranes, which was the dress rehearsal for this whooping crane migration, was held up for a total of 7 days--2 for mechanical reasons and only 5 because of poor weather.
