Cranes! Adair County, Kentucky
Hear the speakers on the ultralight calling the cranes as they're let out of their pen to fly another leg of the migration! What a joyous relief it was to lift off this morning and head for the next stopover. The birds flew an hour and 26 minutes, winging their way to Adair County and the FINAL stop in Kentucky. They added 54.7 miles, landing at 9:41 Eastern time. Come along for a flight--or at least listen in on the radio talk! Heather sent us a collection of radio talk and we put them together so you could hear how pilots communicate during ultralight flights. Remember: these are small, open planes so the sound quality is affected by that. For example, you will hear the ultralight engine. Can you pick out some of these comments in the audio clip, plus any that we missed? (It helps to turn up the volume.)
