Day 30

Smooth Flight
All six cranes lifted off at 8:32 a.m. and flew for 1 hour and 27 minutes. They reached Stop #15 in Coweta County, Georgia at 9:59 a.m. Sunny weather and tailwinds of 10 mph made for good flying, and they added another 65.8 miles. That's a total of 841.4 miles gone. How many miles to go? If you have't done so already, check out our page on the banding codes and characteristics of the new eastern flock.

Try This! Journaling Question

  • If the cranes normally fly at 25 mph but have tailwinds of 10 mph, about how long would it take them to fly 70 miles?
