Migration Day 38

Adair County: Still Lucky in Kentucky

Clip: Flying with the ultralight:
Watch It Now

Tips

Hooray! The crane-kids added another 54.7 miles in a flight of one hour and 33 minutes. The light rain didn't stop them, and the cloud cover made for calm air. This is their last scheduled stopover in Kentucky.

All fourteen cranes made today's flight. The team has  not needed to transport any birds by crate since the flight from Kankakee Co. Illinois. Things are looking up!

Try This! Journaling Questions
  • How do you know the cranes in the video clip above are last year's (Hatch Year 2003) ultra-cranes and not the HY2004 cranes?
  • With today's miles added to yesterday's total of 534.1 miles, how far have they flown? If the entire migration route is 1200 miles, how many miles to go?
