Day 35

Waiting Out the Weather
What is your prediction for a migration departure in the next few days as the cold front moves along? Explain.

Adair County Kentucky is getting mighty familiar. The migration continues to wait out the wet, windy weather since arriving there 6 days ago. Today is overcast and warm, with thunderstorms and wind. To get to the aircraft and crane pen, the pilots and crane handles must cross a river that's usually shallow and only about 20 feet wide. The rains have been so heavy that the river has swelled to 40-feet wide with much deeper water.

Try This! Journaling Question
  • Crane #14 (2002) hadn't begun her migration as of latest word Nov. 15. The only ultra-crane that did not return to Wisconsin last spring, she remains in her chosen "home" in Carroll County, Illinois. Of course we can't know what she's thinking, but make a list of questions you'd like to ask this whooper.
