Migration Day 47

Too Windy to Fly
Photo OM

The team an birds remain in Meigs County, TN at Hiwassee State Wildlife Refuge for the seventh day since arriving.
Today they are standing down due to winds gusting to 25 mph. Heavy rains kept them here over the past two days. How rainy was it? The rain sogged the phone lines, prohibiting any internet connections. It flooded the only road into the camp. Snow this morning in some of the higher elevation areas of Tennessee, but not in the cranes' neighborhood. Tomorrow will likely still be windy.

You Can Help
Each day costs the migration money, whether they travel or not. Heather Ray tells us: "An anonymous donor has agreed to match any/all funds donated while we are in Tennessee, to a maximum of $5000.00. Each day we are down due to weather means an increase to our operating budget of $1000.00."

It's been 7 days since the team arrived at this location. Please consider a small donation to help the cause. Every little bit helps. For example, $15.00 buys a 50-pound bag of crane chow. $32.00 pays for 5000 mealworms for Robo-crane to give out. $30.00 fills the fuel tank of one ultralight airplane, buying about three hours of flight time. contributions can be made online through CanadaHelps.org or mailed to:
