Day 43

Heat and Headwinds Turn Cranes Back
Two in the pen.
Photo Operation Migration

This morning's temperature was 67 degrees--with headwinds of 27 mph. The team took off at 7:43, but flew only five minutes before deciding that the heat and headwinds added up to poor flying conditions and unneeded stress to the birds. They turned back to stop 22 in Suwannee County, FL. A weather pattern is expected to move in tomorrow, so they still may not make it to Chassahowitzka by the weekend.
