Preparing for Migration
Keeping Crane Chicks Healthy

Back

  Here's what we know:

Besides normal running and playing, the chicks need planned exercise. Handlers give the chicks walks and swims each day.

This is important for growing strong, straight legs and feet. Without enough exercise, the chicks could develop leg and toe problems because they grow so fast.

Journaling Questions

  • How do you think chicks in the wild manage to get enough exercise to stay healthy?
  • How do you get the exercise you need to stay healthy?
