Pairs Dance: Why?
Dancing is one way for crane pairs to court and win each other. Dancing indicates that it’s a really serious choice for both of them. It is a great way for pairs to renew their bond each year. Dancing also helps synchronize their bodies so both will be exactly in tune for egg production when they reach their breeding territory, and both will be hormonally ready for all the responsibilities of parenthood. Do you see how red the male's crown is when he's dancing? He wants his good looks to win the female.
