One Whooping crane in the wild flock has the nickname of "Scarbaby." In 2005 he made his first migration with his parents, the Lobstick pair. The family flew 2,500 miles from Canada to Texas. But soon after they arrived, something apeared to be wrong with the youngster. His head and neck swelled, likely the result of tangling with a snake or raptor.
