After seven days the pair was gone. We would never have known their story except for this: Their corn pile was at the farm of Laura Crawford Williams, a wildlife photographer whose specialty is birds. She said, "Life is funny. You never know when a gift will just drop out of the sky!" The cranes were lucky too. Thanks partly to Laura's corn pile and seven days of rest, they resumed their way to the nesting grounds in Canada. Go, cranes! Photo
