Whooping Cranes for Kids Whooping Crane Home
Back Next

Last year's crane-kids turn one year old in April, May or June. How they've changed! See all they have done:

•Learned to feed themselves •Learned to fly
Grown five feet tall Got adult voices and colors
Flown over 1,250 miles (Eastern flock) or over 2,400 miles (Western flock), and learned their migration route Migrated home again with no human help

All the concern, work and care to help the captive-raised chicks has now paid off. This is their first summer as wild, free Whooping cranes. What will they do now, until fall migration?
