A Good Rule
In 2002 the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) made a new regulation. It provides a 9-day period in February when all crab traps have to be removed from public waters. During those nine days it is legal for anyone to pick up traps. At all other times, only TPWD wardens can legally pick up traps, even if the traps are clearly abandoned. Now the TPWD organizes a crab trap pickup each February. Anyone can help.
