All Alone, Looking for a Friend
Now began the time when 46-07 was alone. She flew to the land surrounding a power plant and stayed there for several days. She foraged with gulls and tried to befriend a great blue heron by following it around. She then took off and landed at the Hatchie National Wildlife area in Tennessee!

I left my post in eastern Tennessee and drove west to keep track of 46-07. I saw her once, standing in a pond with a flock of Canadian geese swimming around her. She did not stay there long, and her quest for a friend brought her to southeastern Arkansas. Here she was mostly alone once again. Thousands of snow geese were in southeastern Arkansas. Perhaps she thought she was getting close to birds of her own kind, as snow geese have the same general color pattern on their bodies. Once again she tried following a great blue heron around, but the heron did not seem to like having a tag-along buddy. It veered back and forth in the air until 46-07 landed, alone.
