Juveniles

Young bald eagles look very different from adults. They are almost entirely brown with occasional white markings on the underside of the wings and chest. As they mature, the bill turns from dark brownish-black to yellow and the head and tail turn white. Juveniles develop their distinctive white head and tail between 4 and 5 years old. Imagine what it's like in the nest with these growing birds and their 6 foot-plus wings.
