Student Scientists
Local high school students study the eagle migration to try and understand how it works, and how eagles and salmon are linked. September 1: Today we counted 22 eagles on the Chilkoot side and 26 on the Chilkat side. This year's eaglets are still in the nest, but will fledge soon to join the other eagles feeding on salmon. Most of our resident eagles are near their nest sites until the young ones fledge. Then they will all begin to converge on the river's edge to feed. |
