they're traveling north or south is not stated). Jeannie from
Monterey Bay Whale Watch Center will report "firsts"
and highlights from the whale's journey north as the whale
watch captains see them.

date for first cow/calf sighting was reported in 2010.

Jeannie told Journey North that they see six to
12 gray whales on each of their excursions recently, but no cow/calf
pair yet. Last
year (2009) the first mom/calf sighting was April 7.
