Field Notes 2012
Half Moon Bay, California, United States

April 27: Boat captain Tom Mattusch told the Half Moon Bay Review he’s seeing more whales this year:

“We’ve been seeing a lot of them up real close. Typically when the whales come up, you can see they have their babies with them and they’re teaching the youngsters how to feed.”

April 11: We're back to running our fishing excursions, so we have no more whale trips until next season. —Sherry, from Queen of Hearts, Half Moon Bay Sportfishing

March 28: Unfortunately we haven't had any whale watching trips for the past couple of months due to wintertime maintenance, bad weather, and a little time off. We were hoping to run trips this weekend but, looking at the marine forecast, I don't think it's going to happen. In February the guys couldn't find a whale to save their life, but they've seen good numbers of them this month heading back up north. ——Sherry, from Queen of Hearts, Half Moon Bay Sportfishing
