Time at Last
Scientists think adult gray whales eat little or nothing
while migrating and while in the lagoons. That changes when they
get home
in April, May or June. Their arctic feeding grounds are again ice-free.
They feast for 130-140 days or more before migrating south again
in fall. It takes
over 600 pounds
of tiny krill (amphipods)
to fill a gray’s stomach.
Visit Journey North to explore the whale trail and the longest
migration of any mammal!
