Observation Methods
Describe your method and quantify your sightings. (How many monarchs did you see per minute, per hour, or per day? How often did you look?)

Behavior of the Monarch
If flying: Note the direction of travel and estimate the height. If nectaring, note type of flower. If roosting, describe trees used and behavior at site.

Wind and Weather
Note wind direction & speed. Describe weather systems at the time. (Links to U. S. and Canadian weather.) Describe recent & forecasted weather (cold fronts, high or low pressure systems, etc.) Include average temperature, presence of sun and/or clouds, etc.

Nectar Sources
List flowers in bloom. When does the first frost occur? What happens to the flowers?

Monarch Eggs and Larvae on Milkweed
Can you find any eggs or larvae on milkweed? Count the number of eggs & larvae per plant and record. (This indicates whether the monarchs in or passing through your region could be in reproductive condition.)
