The number of butterflies was unbelievable, and to think, “How am I so lucky to be able to see such a thing?”

While in the colony we gathered our samples and actually weren’t there all that long, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

After we our long day at the Chincua Colony we went back to the Don Bruno Hotel to get our luggage and to have dinner. After dinner we drove to our next hotel, the Hotel Villa Monarca Inn, a very nice hotel, but in a much less rural area. The next morning we woke up early for another long day out with the butterflies, but first we had to start off our day right with a nice big all you can eat buffet breakfast, which was delicious.

The drive up to the area where you started walking up to the Pelon colony was a very steep and winding road. You went through several small villages that were closely packed and then several areas where one side of you was a steep drop and the other was a rock wall that should’ve had a “Watch for falling rocks,” sign.
