Dear Students,
Last Saturday, October 5th I was driving to Ciudad Hidalgo, a nearby town approximately 75 km from Angangueo. Halfway there, in an open valley, I suddenly came upon a monarch--then two, and then another behind them. They were flying so low that I almost hit them with the screen on the front of my truck.

I think they were flying towards Cerro Pelon or Chivati. But also wondered to myself whether these butterflies might be heading to the Valle de Bravo, the state of Mexico's sanctuary, because the direction they were following can be a way to reach there.
