Recipe for Pan Hecho del Rancho
The same traditional recipe that our ancestors have used for hundreds of years.
1 - ¼ manteca vegetable oil
2 kilos harina
½ cuarto de levadura
2 litros agua
Grandmother prefers to work on her knees in the traditional way that her ancestors have always done. Her mother
taught her how.
She also much prefers her own flour over the "Maseca" brand that is now sold all over Mexico. (Mexicans
complain that "Maseca" is like WonderBread, highly processed and so without nutrition.)
Mix all ingredients together and cut into little pices
Platten into little moon shapes with "razero" (out of logs, which her husband cutu out of pine)
Bake in 100 year old horno
