Arizona to California In fall 2014, a monarch tagged in Arizona was recovered in California after traveling 680 miles in 34 days. This supports the discovery made by the Southwest Monarch Study based on tagging recoveries over the past several years. Some monarchs tagged in Arizona have gone northwest to California — and others have gone southeast to Mexico. Not only are monarchs traveling in entirely different directions, they're also finding the traditional overwintering sites in each place! |
