Sometimes
you will turn over a leaf and discover a monarch egg. It's fine
to collect eggs and raise monarchs yourself. You will be protecting
the egg from predators and disease. These strike 90% of all monarchs
before they complete the 5th instar stage. "I call them 'rescued
eggs'," says naturalist Carol Cullar.
