Shageluk is a traditional Deg Xinag Athabaskan community. It has been on the Innoko River for countless generations. The last village on the river. Native villagers have observed changes in the river/lake ice freeze-up and break-up dates. They have noticed changes in vegetation and boreal forest around the village. How might these changes affect their lives? The students are happy to be involved in a project that tracks lake ice thickness, snow densities, and conductive heat flow in efforts to show global environmental change.
