1) _____  I have registered for Journey North so that I can be contacted if necessary.

2) _____ I understand that we will not receive our own butterfly next spring. We will receive a butterfly that was made this fall by another classroom in North America.

3) _____ I will REPORT to the fall map when I mail our butterfly this fall so our class will appear on the map of participants. Next May, I promise to REPORT to the spring map when we receive a return butterfy so the class who made it can find where their butterfly landed.

4)_____  Our Butterfly:

  • Is made from a letter-sized file folder. (For creative ideas, see examples.)
  • Our butterfly and mailing packet meet the weight and size limits (see #6 below).
  • We made an effort to decorate our butterfly with recycled materials. (No glitter, please!)
  • Our "Hello Friends/Hola Amigos" note (and optional items) are securely attached.
  • A printed copy of our school's name & full address appears on our butterfly. (Make sure your the address on your butterfly matches the address on your return envelope.)
  • The messages we enclosed are typed and written in Spanish so they can be read and understood. (For ideas, see sample Spanish Phrases.)

5) _____ Our Spring Return Envelope is as follows (see example):

  • Has exactly $XX postage (stamps only) affixed for the return trip from Minnesota.
  • Canadian Mail: Choices are: $2 Canadian postage, $2 US postage, or 3 International Reply Coupons (IRC).
  • No postage meters or PRIORITY MAIL envelopes were used. No tape covers stamps.
  • Is self-addressed with teacher's name and school's full address (same address as printed on our butterfly). Return address is Journey North's. (See address below.)
  • Is at least 10" x 13." (No padded or bubble envelopes, please!)

6) _____ Our Fall Mailing Envelope is exactly as follows (see example):

  • Is Postmarked by October 12, 2010, and addressed to: "Send a Monarch 2010" c/o Journey North, 19130 Highland Ave., Wayzata, MN 55391 USA
  • Our butterfly and its enclosures weigh no more than ____ oz (g).
  • Our butterfly and its enclosures fit into a mailing envelope no larger than 10" X 13."
  • Contains a self-addressed return envelope for spring. (See #5 above.)

7) _____ Optional Support for Monarch Conservation in Mexico is enclosed.

  • Our donation for the Monarch Butterfly Fund is enclosed.
  • Our own name and school are written on the check (so we can be recognized).
  • The outside of our fall shipping envelope proclaims: "We're Helping Monarchs!"
