Flowers
on the Move
How
Does it Help Them Survive?
This
is a grain of pollen enlarged thousands of times!
- Describe
what you see. What does it remind you of?
- How do
you think it would feel?
- Why do
you think it has that texture?
Hint: Think about how pollen is moved from flower to
flower (so the plant can make seeds).

What
Scientists Think
The rough, sticky surface of the pollen grain easily attaches to the bristly
hairs on the body of a bee or other insect. When the bee moves onto another
flower, it carries the pollen with it — without even knowing it!
