September

It
has been partly cloudy, rainy, and some bursts of sunshine for
the last week. Our temps now are ranging from 40-53 degrees daily.
We had termination dust over the weekend (so everyone is talking
about that)--that is when it snows on top of the taller mountains
and rains down here. When the clouds lift and the sun comes out--sparkling
white snow all over the
mountaintops--we watch it climb down closer to us in the fall to predict
winter.
The
Aurora Borealis has been very active already this year--earlier
than usual, but with the cloud cover, it is hard to catch it.
It is usually most active between 1:00 and 5:00a.m. Sunrise
now is at 7:53am and sunset is 7:46pm.
The
birch are all yellow and the highbush cranberry bushes and
the fireweed have turned red and orange. Our autumn colors
separate-yellow up high and reds low to the ground.
My
husband and I had a mama moose and baby in our backyard this
morning, and saw another cow moose on the way to work along
the highway.
