Can You Trick a Critter?
"This
year we are trying a natural method to try to confuse or prevent
our wild animals from eating our tulips. Last year we tried planting our tulips with anemone bulbs. We discovered that the anemones didn't grow at the same rate as the tulips. This year we planted daffodils with our tulips. Each time we planted one
of the Red Emperor tulip bulbs, we also planted two daffodil bulbs
on either side.
"Since the animals don’t like to eat daffodils,
we are hoping that they won’t notice the tulip or just avoid
that bed with daffodils in it."
Will
they outsmart their critters? Keep your eyes open for their report
from Stanhope, NJ, this spring.
