A blooming Red Emperor tulip symbolizes the arrival of spring in the neighborhood. On April 21, the day our first tulip bloomed, we set out with a camera to look for other signs of spring. Here's our phenology study for Cook School. Come along and CELEBRATE spring with us!

We looked up high and saw buds bursting open on the Norway Maple tree.

We heard some "chirp, chirp, chirping" and found goldfinches at the feeder. They were wearing their yellow summer feathers.

We got really good at finding flowers. Look at this bunch! This is a Forsythia shrub. It flowers before it sends out any leaves. Have you ever seen one?

Look what we found in the garden! We turned the soil with a shovel to get it ready for planting. We found a fat, juicy earthworm. Are earthworms good for the garden?

We found the prettiest yellow flowers. There were enough to pick and make a necklace of them! We love spring!
