At Gilmanton School, planting was done according to the protocol. Planting bulbs at a depth of 7 inches will keep the bulbs from freezing when there is little to no insulating snow cover.

"It was chilly, but we hope our tulips will be snug and warm under the soil. The entire second grade participated, planting 60 bulbs. In our science notebooks, we predicted when the bulbs will emerge." Gilmanton, New Hampshire 10/29/13
