Springtime in Alaska!

Spring snowstorms left Trailside Elementary School's tulip garden covered with snow on Earth Day (April 22). Now this Anchorage, Alaska garden has emerged!

  • Reporting April 24: Late snow finally melted and tulips were up about 4 inches in our garden. As tulips have a natural antifreeze, they look just fine!

"We had a late snow on Earth Day (4/22) so things slowed down a little, and then 62 degrees yesterday." Teacher Ryan Patrick predicts the tulips will bloom before the end of school, which is May 21. We'll watch and see!
