Garden Observations :
Week Ending April 29, 2010
  • 04/28/10 Evanston, Wyoming
The first tulip is blooming this morning--in the snow, as usual. A late snow storm began this morning, and just like last year, the tulips are opening up.
  • 04/26/10 Cambridge, Ontario
Amazing beautiful red tulips greet the children each day when they arrive. Cambridge,
  • 04/26/10 Portland, Connecticut
Why is one tulip still bright red? I wonder why the green energy is going back into the bulb? I wonder if all the birds have migrated back north? Why is the pistil still there?
  • 04/24/10 Anchorage, Alaska
Late snow finally melted and tulips were up about 4 inches in our garden. We were thrilled to see the tulips up when the snow melted. As tulips have a natural antifreeze, they look just fine! Hope you can make them out in the photo.
  • 04/24/10 Kingston, Ontario
Hooray! Hooray! Our beautiful tulips have finally bloomed! We are so excited! So many people have been watching them as well. We've been learning a bit about Georgia O'Keeffe ... we'll have lots of inspiration for our "larger-than-life" pastel drawings now!
  • 04/22/10 Keene, New Hampshire
Our tulips are in full bloom and have been enjoyed by all for the past week. The warm weather brought out the bloom more than a week earlier than last year.

Tulips up in Anchorage. They emerged under the snow again this spring.
